Nora
Nora el Samahy was introduced to the world of
Pilates four years ago through a friend who happened
to have a machine (the Reformer) in her house.
Like many people who first learn the method, she
fell in love with it immediately. Unlike many
other forms of exercise this one just made sense
to her physically and mentally. Pilates is both
kind and gentle to the body as well as challenging
and strenghthening. The method developed by Joseph
Pilates over 80 years ago blends concepts of eastern
and western thought. The exercises focus on building
core strength and stability while using breath
to keep the body long. By working on correcting
an individual's posture and accessing deep muscles,
changes in the body can be tremendous.
Nora was trained by Ellie Herman at the Ellie
Herman Studios in San Francisco. Ellie's program
covers the entire Pilates repertoire in depth
while also giving the instructors knowledge in
anatomy. In addition to completing all the certification
requirements and teaching for over two years Nora
has also taken the Rehabilitation intensive taught
by Lizz Roman. In the past year Nora has also
been assistant teaching in the Teacher Training
Intensive at Ellie Herman Studios. Nora's primary
teaching goal is to empower her student's with
a sense of body awareness that can be carried
into everyday life.
